Corporate lawyers - obedient or greedy?
It’s probably a combination.
Thomas Blass was on Coast tonight, talking about Stanley Milgram and his obedience experiments.
… He found, surprisingly, that 65% of his subjects, ordinary residents of New Haven, were willing to give apparently harmful electric shocks-up to 450 volts-to a pitifully protesting victim, simply because a scientific authority commanded them to, and in spite of the fact that the victim did not do anything to deserve such punishment. ...
If you selected the lawyers who represent my defendants for this experiment, at least 95% would push the button without hesitating.
It is totally beyond me how human beings can be so callous, so not care about inflicting pain and suffering.
But then again, that’s 65% of you too.
